The Extroverts Noche Buena

The winning recipe…
We Filipinos celebrate the Noche Buena with lots of different menus, assorted viands, meals, appetizers and desserts. Each family has their own specialty. Whether it’s a meal, a salad, pasta, a grilled meat, a tasty dessert, there’s a very wide variation of foods during this time of the yuletide season. A typical Filipino family always has one of those given types of food, there would always be a salad (most of the time it’s a Macaroni Salad, but it differs for every family), Spaghetti (or any pasta) or Pansit (any type of pansit), Ham, Queso de Bola, Barbeques, and different sweets like, yema, bico, hot chocolate, graham cakes or ref cakes, puddings, jellies and more.

For the kids, there would always be hotdogs and marshmallows, and for the adults, beers and liquors should always be available ice cold. The celebration would be held indoors, at the yard, the garage or even on the streets. Families even share with their neighbors to make the celebration more extravagant and exciting. There’s also the exchange of gifts, party till dawn, happiness and joy, problems, arguments and misunderstandings are set aside, just to enjoy the Christmas celebration. And even in this event, we never fail to give importance to the real reason for celebrating the Noche Buena, its not really about the food, the gifts nor the happenings, its all about the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. All the celebration is held in accordance to His coming on earth, to save us from all our sins and to bring us back to God. So this Christmas, be sure not to forget about why we really celebrate Noche Buena. Let’s all indulge in the abundance of the blessings that are being given to us by the Lord.
